Renovation Electrical FAQ

When in the renovation process do I need an electrician?
Typically twice. The first visit (rough-in) is after framing is up and before insulation or plasterboard goes on — we run all the cables and install boxes. The second visit (fit-off) is after plastering and painting is complete — we install all the switches, power points, light fittings and test everything. We'll coordinate with your builder on timing for both visits.
Do I need to upgrade my switchboard for a renovation?
Usually yes — especially for kitchens and bathrooms where dedicated circuits and safety switches are required. We assess your board at the start of the project and let you know what's needed. We won't recommend work that isn't necessary, but we won't skip work that is.
Can you work with my builder's schedule?
Yes — and this is something we're good at. We stay in contact with builders throughout the project so we don't hold up the plastering or tile work. If the schedule shifts (as it often does), we adjust. Being local means we can move quickly when we need to.
Do you do lighting design as part of the renovation?
Steve can advise on lighting layouts during the planning phase — where to locate downlights for the best coverage, where to run LED strip, how to position pendants, how many circuits you'll need. Getting this right before the plasterboard goes on saves expensive changes later.
Do you supply fittings and light fixtures?
We can supply quality LED downlights, exhaust fans, switches, power points and standard fittings. For designer pendants, feature lighting or specific fixtures you've chosen, supply them yourself and we'll install. Either way works — we'll confirm what's included in the quote.
How far does Wave Electrical travel for renovation jobs?
We cover all of Noosa Shire — Sunrise Beach, Sunshine Beach, Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Tewantin, Peregian Beach, Cooroy and surrounding hinterland. For larger projects we can travel further — just call and ask.
